Ross Solar Completes New York City’s Largest Rooftop Solar Power System
SCADA Controls on 1.56-Megawatt SunPower System Enhance Grid Resiliency
The Ross Solar completed a record setting 1.56 megawatt rooftop solar installation for Jetro Cash and Carry at their Hunts Point Restaurant Depot facility in the Bronx, NY. Comprised of 4,760 high efficiency SunPower E20 panels, the ground breaking installation, which is expected to generate in excess of 1.8 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy annually, represents a huge step forward for the solar industry in New York City; integrating the first SCADA computer controlled system for Con Edison, which permits the utility to remotely monitor and control the system.
“The smart grid employed here is exactly the kind of innovative solution that New York State needs to increase the resiliency of the grid and protect residents from power outages.”
Mario Cuomo, Governor, NY State
“Congratulations to Jetro Cash and Carry, Ross Solar and Con Edison for making this project a reality and for adding resiliency to the states power grid.”
John B. Rhodes, President and CEO, NYSERDA
“Ross Solar’s willingness to work within our specific guidelines, as well as their commitment to full transparency were strong factors in our decision to move forward.”
Peter Claro, VP, Jetro Restaurant Depot
