What is Solarize?
Solarize, or town-sponsored, programs are locally organized community outreach efforts aimed at promoting solar power to a city or town’s homes and businesses. The reason for these municipal solar programs is that when groups of neighbors come together, they can often get better pricing and share tasks that can help expedite the solar process. Connecticut and New York have had many municipal programs that have helped homeowners and commercial property owners go solar.
Most Solarize, or town-sponsored, solar programs include the selection of a local solar installer to be the program manager. That preferred solar vendor promotes solar to the community, runs educational events, and assists interested homeowners and commercial property owners with special financing and installation services so that they can easily go solar.
